Oklahoma Sooners Are Headed To The Cheez-It Bowl

The Oklahoma Sooners are headed to the Cheez-It Bowl to play Florida State. The game will be played at at Camping World Stadium on Thursday, December 29.

"What an honor," OU coach Brent Venables said Sunday afternoon. "We're thrilled to have an opportunity to play against the great football team in Florida State on December 29." 

Oklahoma and Florida State have met seven times. The Sooners lead the series 6-1 and have won each of the last six meetings. OU is 3-1 in bowls against the Seminoles, winning Orange Bowls in the 1979 (24-9), 1980 (18-17) and 2000 (13-2) seasons, and losing in the Gator Bowl in the 1964 campaign (36-19). The Orange Bowl victory in the 2000 season resulted in a 13-0 record under head coach Bob Stoops and OU's seventh national championship.

OU finished the regular season with a 6-6 record. FSU was 9-3.
