Oklahoma higher education institutions will spend more than $10 million this academic year on diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. This according to state authorities, who say about one-third of that amount will be drawn from state funds, with the remainder representing a combination of federal money and private donations. Higher education spending on diversity programs reportedly increased by more than $1 million in Oklahoma following the 2020 death of George Floyd, which sparked racial-justice protests throughout much of the U.S.
