The biological mother of Athena Brownfield is behind bars for her allegedly role in December's fatal beating of the four-year-old girl. Caddo County officials say Jasmin Brownfield was taken into custody yesterday on two counts of child neglect. Ivon and Alysia Adams reportedly were arrested and charged earlier this year after Ivon allegedly beat Athena to death on Christmas Day, then buried the child's body in rural Grady County. Police say Ivon Adams remains in custody on a first-degree murder charge. His wife Alysia faces a single count of child neglect.
