State lawmakers are considering a bill that, if enacted, would raise Oklahoma's age of consent from 16 to 18. Authorities say the point of Senate Bill 615 is to protect Oklahoma teenagers, especially those who might face pressure from adult authority figures like teachers or coaches. The measure - which has already passed through committee - reportedly could be heard on the house floor immediately. Should lawmakers pass the bill, all it will need is Governor Stitt's signature for it to become state law.
